Search for skin-tightening in Korea and you'll hit these two names constantly, often on the same clinic's menu at very different prices. Visitors keep asking the same thing — are they the same treatment, and why the gap? Here's what the words mean, without telling you which to pick. That's a consultation question, not a marketing one.
Both are HIFU. HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) is a category of non-surgical lifting that delivers focused ultrasound energy below the skin's surface. Ultherapy and Shurink are two different devices in that category, from different makers:
- Ultherapy — the original, US-developed device (Merz). Because it's imported and brand-established, it usually sits at the top of a Korean price list.
- Shurink (and the newer Shurink Universe) — a Korean-made HIFU device (Classys). Korean visitors often describe it as "Korea's version of Ultherapy," and it typically costs a fraction of the imported option.
Why the same menu shows both, at very different prices. It's the same pattern as botox brands: an imported device and a domestic device that do the same kind of thing sit side by side, and the imported one costs more. In one real Seoul quote a visitor shared, Ultherapy was listed at ₩2,980,000 and Shurink at ₩830,000 on the same visit. Your numbers will differ — that's the point of checking posted prices rather than trusting a single quote.
Decode the "shots" before you compare. Korean HIFU is priced by number of shots (lines of energy), commonly 300, 600, or more. A cheap-looking price may be for far fewer shots than a pricier one, so two quotes aren't comparable until you know the shot count and the area covered. Always ask: how many shots, over which area?
What we won't tell you — on purpose. Whether one device lifts more, lasts longer, or hurts less than the other is a medical question with real individual variation, and it depends on your skin, the settings, and the operator. That belongs in the consultation room with a doctor who has examined you — not on a directory. Some people report longer-lasting results from one and quicker, cheaper top-ups from the other; those are experiences, not a ranking.

- Ask which device the quote is for. "HIFU" on a menu could be either; the price tier usually tells you, but confirm it.
